Exposed as the Contender at the top of the Rankings, Thaden has to make a run for it….
After the Assimilation System inadvertently outed Thaden as a Contender, as well as confirming that he was at the top of most of the Rankings, the Lifewarden has to leave the town of Ashcleft as soon as possible. Why? Because with his Level being over 21, he can now be attacked by other Contenders with a lower Level than him; they are eager to bring him down so that they’ll have a chance at the top spot, which will guarantee that their families back home on Earth will be safe. With the completely unfair Contender versus Contender system in place, he can’t defend himself even if he had that capability, as any damage he might inflict upon them is immediately negated.
Fortunately, Thaden escapes those who wish him harm, but as he travels further from Ashcleft, he realizes that he doesn’t exactly have a plan on how to proceed now that his status has been revealed. Venturing into the wider world of Tarth has its own problems, though the danger to him is largely in the form of other Contenders learning his identity, and not the monsters that roam across the landscape or the dungeons that might challenge him. Despite those dangers, the Lifewarden decides to begin accumulating more of the resources needed to Level-up; but when he unwittingly stumbles upon a challenge that the Assimilation System has designed, Thaden is completely unprepared for the consequences of his actions.
But in reality, it’s the world of Tarth that is completely unprepared for him….
This story contains an overpowered MC with a normally non-offense-based Class, LitRPG progression mechanics and stats, and isekai/portal fantasy elements. Contains no sexual content or harems.

Okay, this is book 2 in the series. I upped the other book already and am seeding it for those who need/want it.
Excellent series so far and, very well written. Great world building and, some nice new ideas too.
Narration is done by a voice actor that does an excellent job. Crisp, clean and, clear voices for all the characters.
More books to come later today if I got time to up.
Have a great Saturday folks.

Lol! You and Brooks. I actually did try out Fusion…I’m on book 3 now. It’s a little too YA for me but the story and world building are so good I gotta finish it

I know, I know…Brooks….I just like his writing. I think it’s the detail to world building and, the fact that the books are a nice break from the usual harem in many of the RPG books. Good to take a break from it and, still have a story that keeps you coming back.
Glad you like the Fusion series and, I will admit, he’s had me hooked on his writing from the first book I listened to from him and, it continues til this day.
Have a great evening.

Agreed, if you want a cozy rpg I highly recommend heretical fishing. It’s unreal

This book is great - I got the 1st one and was, initially, not sure I liked the narration style: for me, sadly, the narrator is 90% of my enjoyment…
I find a bad story can be made entertaining with the right narrator and a great story can be ruined (literally destroyed) by a bad narrator. In fact, I’ve listened the the same book narrated by two different people and didn’t even realize it wa sthe same book until quarter of the way through, that’s how much difference a good narrator makes in my opinion. Anyway, my point is, with book 1 I found the narrator rather annoying initially, but I always give a new narrator at least 2 hours of listening time before I wrote them off…
With book 1 I had to speed up the narrator to 1.35x speed because he’ so darn slow! After that, I found that his tone and delivery are pretty flat, which annoyed me, but I could bear it, just about…
Once we go into the story properly, which takes a fair old while honestly - the pace things move alone is VERY slow at first, but once it gets going, things get interesting, and that’s when I decided it was worth carrying on.
I’m on book two now and again, although I don’t love the narrative style, it’s bearable. The story is finally moving along at a reasonable pace and we are finding out some things.
It’s a great concept (not original obviously) and there are some interesting ideas I’ve not seen before, but it’s certainly worth a listen.

God this MC is a total rube. He never sticks up for himself. He whines and mopes when people are taking advantage of him. He continually ignores everything going on around him which sets him up for even more people taking advantage of him. He’s just so wishy washy it makes me cringe. This author seems to write characters
