I was expecting a generic litrpg with a gimmicky card building mechanic… Surprisingly this is a well written, well thought out book that feels very fresh in this genre. The world is interesting, the characters have personality, and the card mechanic is thought out and feels integral to the world the author created instead of tacked on like I might have expected.
If you like litrpg, don’t miss this book.

The author is currently working on book 2 and actively publishing chapters of it on their Patreon and on RoyalRoad. Looks like they are making fast progress but it will still need editing and narration which takes time. I’d expect the next audiobook is some months away.

Interesting mix of systems. The story was pretty good. The protagonist seems very confused, the more he learns about the world the more wrong he discoveries he is but doesn’t care.
I hope there will be consequences or at least a taste of his own medicine.

I really loved this book and the audiobook. It was a little slow but once he starts getting cards, I was so hooked. And then the cliffhanger…Ya i had to go to RoyalRoad to read the chapters.

Sound quality is good.
Narrating is ok. Some voices are a little weird and overdone tho. Horacio sounds like he has throat cancer (he’s supposed to be 12 or 13…) and Martin sounds dumber (and annoying) than mystical…
Story is good and magic system interesting.
